Artist Statement

A southern woman with a gypsy soul, Kelli, like her art, is a colorful contradiction. Her paintings sing with longing, beckoning for us to peer beneath the facade reality wears so well and gaze into the swirling layers below to find meaning in the maelstrom where sexuality, glorious pain, and pure joy live.

Her art juxtaposes repression with desire, light with darkness, and makes us wonder what really lies behind our own masks. What undulating desires might lay dormant, waiting to be unleashed…

She finds inspiration in music, as a former ballerina she often incorporates graceful movements to modern dance moves while she paints.

Her desire is for the viewer to see, and above all, feel, something unflinching and true.
